Louden Tenn Sept 3rd 1863 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ We came here last night but the rebs had set the bridge over the Tennessee river on fire and left. They have always had this place and it is a good position and very well fortified so as to be able to fight at least 5 to one but they left with but very little resistance The bridge was both for railroad and wagon and spanned almost half a mile supported by huge pillers of stone. Rebbledom is almost cut in two again with this move.
The cannonading of the 1st was near here and 2nd here ---------------------------------------------------------------------
